  • Aldon Adds IBM i Features to Report Manager

    August 10, 2010 Alex Woodie

Aldon has beefed up its new Report Manager software with two new features designed to help IBM i development shops better track their code promotion activities. Aldon unveiled the updates last week as part of Report Manager version 1.2.

The version 1 release of Report Manager was introduced last October as a way to help users of its Lifecycle Manager (including IBM i and open systems versions) products get a better handle on what their developers are doing, and to prepare compliance reports.

The fact that Report Manager presents information in a Web 2.0-style interface, as opposed to a green 5250 display, is presented as a major ease-of-use benefit to Aldon’s considerable installed base of IBM i, i5/OS, and OS/400 users. This becomes especially important when auditors arrive to inspect systems.

With last week’s release of Report Manager version 1.2, Aldon has bolstered the product with three new reports, two of which are designed to work with Aldon Lifecycle Manager (IBM i Edition).

The first new report lists all of the IBM i objects that have been promoted into a specified environment. The second new report lists all of the promotion-related activities that are associated with a given task. Both new reports are listed by object name.

Aldon added a similar code promotion tracking feature to Aldon Lifecycle Manager (Enterprise Edition), its change management product for open system platforms like Windows, Unix, and Linux. Aldon says it also increased the performance of other aspects of the product.
