Linoma Touts GoAnywhere Install at Maryland Gov’t Office

Maryland’s Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) has successfully implemented the GoAnywhere managed file transfer (MFT) solution from Linoma Software to handle a variety of its file transfer requirements, while maintaining compliance with new state and federal privacy laws. The DLLR is responsible for many aspects of commerce in the state of Maryland, including ensuring that contractors are licensed, collecting and distributing unemployment benefits, running workforce development programs, and ensuring workplace safety. Prior to implementing a centralized MFT system on its System i server, the DLLR used manual file transfer methods to exchange data with other organizations. However, with so many mandates involving players in the public and private industries, the agency struggled to satisfy the requirements of each trading partner. Also, the lack of a central log of file transfer activities made recovering from an error more difficult. The organization set out to implement a centralized MFT system. According to a Linoma case study on DLLR, the organization required the new MFT system to run on the IBM i, to support standard protocols like SFTP, FTPS, and Open PGP encryption, supported standard DB2 and PC-based file formats, provided centralized logging, and could be accessed over the Web. DLLR selected GoAnywhere from Linoma, with plans to install the software on its IBM i server. Just prior to the implementation, the organization was met with a new requirement: the need to comply with the new Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS), which requires sending and receiving licensing data via XML. The DLLR had no trouble supporting the new NMLS requirement for XML files. Since the software was installed, the DLLR has reported greater efficiency with file transfer activities.
