  • SaaS Vendor Gets Solid Network Links to IBM i Apps

    September 21, 2010 Alex Woodie

An interesting software as a service (SaaS) partnership is brewing up down under. The Australian branch of U.K.-based telecom company Azzurri Communications has been chosen by advertising software developer Pegasus Systems to provide network connection and management to Pegasus IBM i-based application to ad agencies in Australia and New Zealand.

According to Pegasus Systems, more than 90 percent of advertising agencies in New Zealand use its software, which provides functionality across finance, management, account service, production, and media. Uptake of the Pegasus app by ad agencies in Australia, where the company is based, is also strong, the company says.

Pegasus recently partnered with Azzurri Communications Australia to provide reliable network links to its IBM i-based application, which it delivers over the line as a SaaS product. As part of the deal, Azzurri established a custom data center to host Pegasus’ iSeries hardware, and integrated the private data links of Pegasus customers into the Azzurri network.

The partnership has proved fruitful so far, says Les Parry, managing director of Pegasus. “We have spent over 20 years perfecting the application but need the appropriate network links, particularly for larger clients, to ensure a seamless and quick user experience,” he states in a press release. “Until Azzurri, we were struggling to find a single provider with experience, knowledge, and expertise in the complexities of data centre services and the network connections for hosted applications.”

In addition to hosting the servers and managing the network, Azzurri provides network security and firewall protection, and runs the backups. “Azzurri provides all the hardware, networking, communications, security and disaster recovery that makes the Pegasus application shine with fast response times and quick implementation,” Parry says.
