  • Preferred Strategies Taps Attunity for JDE BI Package

    October 26, 2010 Alex Woodie

Preferred Strategies, a provider of business intelligence solutions to JD Edwards and SAP customers, has tapped change data capture (CDC) specialist Attunity to help it create real-time data warehouses for JDE customers.

Based on the Santa Cruz County coastline in central California, Preferred Strategies has built a living around speeding the deployment of the popular Crystal Reports product, as well as the full Business Objects BI suite, both which are now owned by the German ERP giant SAP. The firm’s offering, called BI Quick Launch, combines pre-defined reporting templates for Crystal Reports deployments, and so-called “Universes” to get BO’s Web Intelligence and Polestar products off the ground. The company also provides deployment services for JDE World and EnterpriseOne and SAP All-In-One ERP suites.

Last week, Preferred Strategies announced it has formed a partnership with Attunity, a Burlington, Massachusetts, developer of real-time data integration software. Over the last few years, Attunity has been lauded by IBM i customers for the speed of its CDC software in replicating changes as they occur in DB2/400 production systems to other database management systems.

As part of the deal, Preferred Strategies will make use of Attunity’s software to move data off production JDE databases running on DB2/400, SQL Server, and Oracle into separate BI databases that are used for data analysis.

Preferred Strategies founder and president Adam Crigger says his customers have always needed access to real-time data. “In the past, Preferred Strategies has provided this functionality by connecting our BI Quick Launch directly to the JD Edwards transactional data,” he states in a press release.

“Now, with Attunity Stream, we can extend these same capabilities to customers who want to implement business intelligence over our JD Edwards data warehouse in order to reduce the impact on the JD Edwards transactional system and simplify the ERP data model to better support BI.”
