  • ASCI Delivers More Application Hooks with Job Scheduler

    August 16, 2011 Alex Woodie

Advanced Systems Concepts (ASCI) unveiled a new release of its ActiveBatch job scheduler that features better integration with enterprise software from SAP, Informatica, and Zenoss.

ActiveBatch is an enterprise job scheduler that helps organizations manage workloads running across IBM i, Windows, Linux, Unix, mainframe, OpenVMS, and Mac OS environments. The software supports time-based and trigger-based scheduling, and features an array of templates designed to simplify implementation.

Those templates were refined with the release of ActiveBatch version 8 service pack 2, which ASCI unveiled last week. Chief among the new features is better out-of-the-box integration with several SAP products, including NetWeaver Business Warehouse, SAP’s flagship data warehousing tool, and its BusinessObjects business intelligence applications.

ActiveBatch now holds an SAP BW-SCH certification. SAP makes the BW-SCH certification available to outside schedulers to assure customers that those schedulers can play nicely with the NetWeaver Business Warehouse. SP2 also gets new steps that allow users to hook into BusinessObjects Data Services, a data integration and data quality tool.

ASCI has also launched the Zenoss Management Pack, which brings out-of-the-box integration with Zenoss, the open source application, server, and network monitoring platform. The Management Pack gives ASCI customers access to Zenoss monitoring from the ActiveBatch console.

SP2 brings better integration with Informatica PowerCenter, an extract, transform, and load (ETL) tool. ActiveBatch gained support for Informatica Job Steps with version 8, and SP2 builds on that capability by bringing support for more advanced PowerCenter properties, giving customers more precision in monitoring the ETL process.
