  • RJS Lashes WebDocs to WebForms

    January 24, 2012 Alex Woodie

RJS Software Systems, which has been on a product integration kick of late, last week announced that a new release of its Windows-based WebDocs document management and routing software can now be used directly with WebForms, its online forms offering, resulting in heightened usability.

Prior to the release of WebDocs–Windows Edition version 1.4, RJS customers who were also running WebForms had no obvious, out-of-the-box way to hook the two products together. This was unfortunate for RJS customers, as the two products offer complementary capabilities in the area of capturing data from people via online forms (WebForms) and managing and distributing forms and documents that have already been generated or captured (WebDocs).

With this release, RJS is giving WebDocs users the capability to access and use WebForms directly from the WebDocs interface. This gives WebDocs users the power to integrate the data-capture capabilities of WebForms as a core part of the document management process. Any business process that requires a customer or partner to fill out a form–such as order entry or quote-to-fulfillment–stands to become more efficient thanks to this new feature, RJS says.

WebDocs implements a complete document storage and distribution system for documents generated from IBM i and PC applications.

WebDocs version 1.4 introduces a total of 15 new features and eight fixes. Among the other new features is better integration with RJS’ Enterprise Workflow product. While WebDocs features some workflow capabilities, Enterprise Workflow provides more automation of workflow processes and a more advanced workflow design tool, among other improvements.

RJS also bolstered the WebDocs GUI with this release. The GUI now includes sortable columns in the document routing inbox, the capability to display all index keys in the document routing inbox, and better folder browsing. On the email front, WebDocs gains support for attaching multiple documents to a single email, and toggling of documents within an email.

The RJS wiki shows that WebDocs version 1.4.1 became generally available last week, and that the developers are already working on version 1.5. For more information see the vendor’s website at www.rjssoftware.com.
