  • InsightSoftware.com Delivers JD Edwards Upgrade Tool

    September 25, 2012 Alex Woodie

JD Edwards users who are pondering the jump to a recent release from their codemaster Oracle may be able to make the move a little less painful using the new Insight Upgrader tool from InsigthSoftware.com.

ERP upgrades, just like ERP installations, are notorious consumers of time and money, and sometimes even take their share of blood and tears. Just as an ERP rollout takes careful foresight and planning to go smoothly and avoid excessive downtime, so, too, do ERP upgrades.

“Industry studies have shown that up to 90 percent of ERP implementations and upgrades result in budget and schedule overruns, poor user experiences and spotty data integrity,” Glenn Wirick, vice president of product management for InsightSoftware.com, says in a press release. “This means businesses aren’t just losing a significant investment, but they are also losing competitiveness and efficiency, which is critical to their long-term success.”

The company’s new Insight Upgrader takes aim at the problem of moving data. There’s only so much a customer can do to ensure that the new applications work as promised (test, test, and test again). But one surefire way to screw up an ERP upgrade is to lose track of one’s data.

InsightSoftware.com says its new Upgrader product will protect the integrity of JD Edwards data throughout the course of the upgrade. The software includes data migration and validation tools to ensure that data remains uncorrupted and clean through the upgrade process.

The vendor says Upgrader takes special precautions with master data fields, and has integrity checking routines for system setup data. Comparison functions allow users to compare data from two different environments, while reporting tools eliminate the need for ERW validation reports, SQL dumps, and extensive use of Excel. “The goal of all our solutions is to make ERP systems work the way the users imagined, getting companies focused on their business, not their software,” Wirick says.

InsightSoftware.com develops a range of planning, reporting, customization, and administration tools for users of Oracle JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne. The company, which also writes tools for E-Business Suite ERP and provides training and technical services for Oracle customers, claims to have more than 650 customers in 120 countries around the world.
