  • Oracle Bolsters JD Edwards Business Accelerators

    October 16, 2012 Alex Woodie

Oracle has unveiled a new release of its Oracle Business Accelerator (OBA) for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne offering, which is aimed at helping customers get their ERP environments up and running more quickly. The software giant added new Business Accelerators for other industries, and made the software available in more countries.

OBAs are a series of tools, wizards, videos, guides, scripts, and workflows that help business partners and consultants perform “rapid, best-practice implementations” of popular Oracle products for customers in certain industries and regions. The software guides the implementation team through the ERP setup, including defining business process and user roles, with the goal of tailoring the system to the customer’s exact requirements.

The OBA program has expanded considerably over the last few years. When Oracle launched its Business Accelerator for EnterpriseOne in November 2007, the E-Business Suite was the only other ERP product covered in the program. Today, Oracle offers seven OBAs, including solutions for the Oracle Business Intelligence suite, the Demantra Supply Chain Planning suite, Agile Product Lifecycle Management, Siebel, and Transportation Management.

The breadth of the EnterpriseOne offering has also expanded since the last time Oracle upgraded the product 18 months ago. Today, Oracle offers four OBA packages for EnterpriseOne version 9.1, including three for manufacturers (covering Durable Goods, Heavy Equipment and Machinery, and Products and Components) and one for Engineering and Construction firms. The manufacturing solutions supports 29 business flows across 16 modules, while the Engineering and Construction solution supports 18 business flows across 11 EnterpriseOne modules.

Oracle last week announced that it has expanded the OBA to support additional EnterpriseOne functions, including expense management, customer self-service, and capital asset management.

The software giant also expanded the availability of the solution. It’s now available to companies in 19 countries, including Australia, Canada, China, Columbia, Egypt, France, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.
