  • LiveRebel Expands to Support Additional Languages

    March 19, 2013 Alex Woodie

ZeroTurnaround last week unveiled a new release of LiveRebel, a new release of its continuous integration enablement tool for accelerating the application deployment cycle in agile development environments. With version 2.6, LiveRebel now supports additional languages, including PHP, in addition to Java.

LiveRebel helps agile development groups by providing the “last mile” of connectivity between development and production. It automates several tasks that must be completed following the latest development burst, including setting up a test bed, running test scripts, and promoting the software into production.

In previous releases, LiveRebel had been restricted to being used in Java environments. With version 2.6, the Boston, Massachusetts, company has widened the supported languages to support not only PHP, but also Python, Ruby, and PERL.

Version 2.6 also gives users the capability to update and track database versions. This means that operations teams can update or roll back database changes along with associated application changes.

LiveRebel also now supports the capability to update applications and databases across multiple platforms with a single click of a button. Users also gain a new property management function that allows them to configure releases for specific environments.

ZeroTurnaround has also baked performance monitoring into LiveRebel, giving operations teams the capability to keep a close eye on the health of an application and the server it runs on.

“In LiveRebel 2.6 we have created a solution that tackles process bottlenecks through automation that allows simple, one-click application releases–and it is language agnostic,” states ZeroTurnaround founder and CEO Jevgeni Kabanov in a press release. “Thus, we introduced a ‘real’ release automation tool for ‘real’ software, addressing the need for composite updates that are deployed into multiple environments.”

LiveRebel doesn’t run on IBM i, but it will support deployment of applications into IBM i environments, a TurnAround spokesperson previously confirmed to IT Jungle.

LiveRebel 2.6 is available now as a free download. For more information, see the company’s website at www.zeroturnaround.com.
