  • Quadrant Adds QR Code Support to Formtastic

    April 9, 2013 Alex Woodie

Quadrant Software recently issued a new release of its forms management software that supports the Quick Response (QR) codes that can be used to communicate Web hyperlinks through a camera on a smart phone.

Quadrant says that QR code support was added to Formtastic version 5.4.5, which shipped more than two years ago. Formtastic can now add QR codes to forms generated from IBM i spooled files, thereby boosting internal and external communications.

Quadrant also announced that it has improved its intelligent mail barcode functionality to comply with a requirement by the United States Postal Service for customer eligibility for bulk mailing discounts. Formtastic can locate a user’s mail address within the spool file and transforms it into a 4-State Barcode, Quadrant says.

In other news, Quadrant announced a partnership with Sage, a developer of business applications that primarily run on Windows servers. As a certified 300 and 500 Silver Level Development Partner with Sage, Quadrant will gain access to certain Sage resources that will help it develop output management solutions based on QuadraDocV that work with Sage’s accounting products.

QuadraDocV is Quadrant’s flagship product today. The software offering installs on VMware or Microsoft HyperV hypervisor to create a communications appliance that not only provides document management and distribution capabilities, but supports fax over IP (FoIP) software from Dialogic.

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
