  • MSP SIaS Waves a Magic Xand

    June 17, 2014 Alex Woodie

Secure Infrastructure & Services (SIaS), a managed services provider (MSP) based in New York, has selected Xand as one of its new data center operators.

Melville, New York-based SIaS manages Power and X86 servers for clients as part of its infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) business, including IBM i, AIX, Linux, and Windows environments. On the Power platform, SIaS provides cloud hosting as well as high availability and disaster recovery as a service. It utilizes logical mirroring software from Maxava and Vision Solutions as well as IBM‘s PowerHA as the backbones for its HA and DR services.

Earlier this spring, SIaS announced that it is co-locating its servers within Xand’s data center in Westchester County, New York. SIaS says Xand’s 50,000-square-foot facility was custom built with the latest in redundant power, environmental control, and networking technology.

Xand is a 15-year-old company that owns half-a-million square feet of data center space across the Northeast. The company provides Windows and Linux hosting in its data center, and leases space to other MSPs, such as SIaS.

SIaS, which exhibited at the recent COMMON conference in beautiful Orlando, Florida, is owned in part by managing partner Peter Briggs, who is also a manager partner at Data Storage Corp., the Garden City, New York, company that bought Briggs’ previous company, SafeData, in 2010. Briggs is also involved with Aegis Technology Services, a private cloud hosting company that DSC formed in early 2013 with another Melville-based MSP, ABC Services.
