IBM i PTF Guide, Volume 19, Number 36
September 13, 2017 Doug Bidwell
Hello IBM i shops, it is always important to keep your system up to date, which is why we provide the IBM i PTF Guide. But just to keep perspective here, for those companies and personnel dealing with Hurricanes Harvey and Irma or the impending Hurricane Jose, and for those who are dealing with the Western part of this country being on fire, the fixes below can probably wait a day or so. Be safe!
This week in the guide we have HIPERs, DB2, and Defective fixes for all three releases:
IBM i 7.3 HIPER group and PSP - SF99729 IBM i 7.2 HIPER group and PSP - SF99719 IBM i 7.1 HIPER group and PSP - SF99709 IBM i 7.3 DB2 for IBM i - SF99703 IBM i 7.2 DB2 for IBM i - SF99702 IBM i 7.1 DB2 for IBM i - SF99701 IBM i 7.3 - SI65349, fixing PTF SI65805 IBM i 7.2 - SI65348, Fixing PTF SI65804 IBM i 7.1 - MF63637, fixing PTF MF63637
For the HIPERS, here are the issues that were addresses: libraries damaged, WAN card interrupt issues, hard drive errors, the “usual stuff.” By that we mean important, potentially critical, patches to the LIC or OS. These should not be ignored.
For DB2: a patch to the ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN routine. Again, important, maybe not in itself, however, patches are often built on top of patches, so staying current is important!
For Defective PTFs: Native Fibre Channel IOAs of type 577F, 578E, 578F with defective PTF applied may crash while IPLing.
As always, to help you work through the PTFs in chronological order, we have included an archive of the IBM i PTF Guide, which you can see below:
