There never seems to be a lack of news related to IBM and this week we see Big Blue is making all sorts of headlines. We also were able to round up some blogs that do relate to the IBM i, so be sure to look in the Redbooks, White Papers, Blogs, and Other Resources section for a little light reading on COBOL, clouds and blockchain.

Top Stories From Outside The Jungle

(Reuters) IBM has long been the top holder of patents and it didn’t get there by looking the other way when it comes to its technology. Big Blue recently won a lawsuit against Groupon for its use of IBM’s e-commerce technology.

(The Motley Fool) IBM and Apple may be the kings of the tech jungle, but where should you invest your money, if you’re one of the lucky few who have any left to burn?

(Fortune) Trade isn’t just about the goods, it’s also how those goods are purchased. IBM processes 87 percent of global credit card transactions, which means it’s a major player in the digital trade economy.

(Venture Beat) Watson is employing AI to help companies looking to target marketing with a new marketing suite geared at creating personalized ads for individual customers.

(SC Magazine) The cloud is solving a lot of problems for companies, but it is not without its own problems. Misconfigured servers exist and critical information is at risk.

Redbooks, White Papers, Blogs, and Other Resources

(IBM Power Systems) Do you know someone who would be a great IBM Champion candidate? Nominations are open now.

(Komando) Do you know COBOL? This blog looks at who might want to hire you.

(OpenLegacy) Unpacking the competitive advantages with API integration and the role played by legacy systems is the focus of this blog.

(IBM IT Infrastructure Blog) Could a private cloud be what makes the competitive difference with your company?

(Syncsort) This blog looks at blockchain and mainframes, and how the two come together.
