DocPath Touts Migration Path from IBM InfoPrint Designer

DocPath, a Spanish developer of document management software, will be using next week’s COMMON conference to show prospective users how it can help them migrate away from IBM‘s InfoPrint Designer. DocPath is a developer of document management software that was founded in 1992 by Julio Olivares. The Madrid-based company has a U.S. office in Atlanta, Georgia (thanks to its 2008 acquisition of IBM i document management software developer Resolutions), and touts more than 50,000 installations around the world, including companies such as BBVA, Santander, Groupama, Liberty, Mapfre Group, DHL, and Danone. DocPath says existing InfoPrint Designer users are suffering from a “technological gap” between what the IBM technology can do and what its users would like it to do. The company’s solution for this gap is a product called DocPath Boulder. The company says DocPath Boulder offers InfoPrint users a step up in several areas, including the generation of documents in various output formats; additional print and distribution features; easier interaction between Windows and IBM i systems; and a user interface that is easy and intuitive and supports multiple languages. DocPath says its Boulder offering supports an efficient migration from InfoPrint Designer into its own solution. Companies can continue to operate their current InfoPrint applications while converting old projects into the DocPath Boulder suite. Specifically, DocPath’s software has the capability to import Advanced Function Printing (AFP) projects built using InfoPrint Designer, and to convert them into a format supported by Boulder. DocPath unveiled its Boulder suite in June 2011. At the time, Olivares said his company’s product “responds to user demands such as higher quality graphics, a more modern interface, and easy barcode integration.” Three versions of the Boulder Suite are available, including: Boulder Essential Suite, which is ideal for companies with limited printing needs; Boulder Suite Pro, which supports multiple output formats and enables distribution via printers, fax, and email; and Boulder Advanced Suite, which offers an unlimited printing for high-volume environments.
