  • Agilysys Goes GA with New Windows-Based PMS for Hotels

    June 29, 2010 Alex Woodie

Large hotels and casinos that are in the market for a property management system (PMS) will no longer be constrained by the System i platform when shopping at Agilysys. That’s because the Cleveland, Ohio, software developer last week announced the general availability of Guest 360, its next-generation PMS, which runs on Windows.

First unveiled two years ago, the Guest 360 suite of tools was originally slated to become available nearly a year and a half ago. Those delays are the thing of the past now, and Agilysys is ready to begin selling and supporting the product in earnest.

Agilysys is positioning Guest 360 as its next-generation PMS package for hotel chains and resorts. The software–which is based in part on functionality found in Agilysys’ i/OS-based products, the Lodging Management System (LMS) and Stratton Warren System (SWS), and Visual One, a Windows-based PMS program designed for smaller properties–features a “sophisticated” database that enables customers to gather “highly detailed information” about their guests, and “easily surpasses yesterday’s state of the art property management systems.”

Agilysys–which originally tried to position Guest 360 as a complementary product for the bullet-proof LMS–says it now offers three property management systems with the launch of Guest 360, each targeted at a different customer segment. The i/OS-based LMS is well-suited for large hotels and casinos; Visual One is designed for full-service resorts and hotels and tribal and regional casinos; while Guest 360 is targeted at hotel chains and multi-property hotel groups. (Exactly how these classifications differ–when Native Americans run the country’s largest casino and many large resorts are part of multi-hotel chains–is not exactly clear.)

Agilysys is still working on several components of Guest 360, which the company developed in the Visual LANSA tool from fourth generation language (4GL) development tool vendor LANSA. According to a product brochure, the company is not yet offering support for multiple languages, activities management, dining management, reservations, or transportation services.

Agilysys says these features will be “coming soon!”
