  • Maxava Now Selling IBM i Monitor Through Apples iTunes Store

    October 11, 2011 Alex Woodie

Any IBM i shop can now get Maxava maxView Lite free of charge from Apple‘s iTunes App Store, the company announced last week. The software provides real-time monitoring of IBM i server status, and doesn’t require a Maxava high availability product.

maxView Lite is a version of the full maxView product that Maxava develops to provide monitoring and management of IBM i server and HA systems. maxView Lite provides a Web browser-based GUI console that shows the status of key IBM i server performance metrics, including CPU and ASP utilization, and WRKSYSSTS- and WRKSACTJOB-related information.

maxView Lite is also available as a Web app for Blackberry and Android devices and as a desktop client for PCs and Macs. Maxava (formerly Maximum Availability) claims this is the first application of its type to be offered through Apple’s popular App Store for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad devices.

“We are now making it even easier for users to quickly and conveniently download the maxView Lite app directly to their iPhone or iPad, underscoring our commitment to delivering solutions that are equally accessible to large enterprise users and SMBs,” Maxava CEO Allan Campbell says in a press release.

Maxava develops two other maxView products that provide HA-related functionality. maxView Monitor shows the status of HA replication and failover readiness, while maxView Manager adds the capability to actively monitor the Maxava HA Enterprise+ environment.

maxView Lite version 1.0 is available now. The software requires iOS version 4.0 or higher, and supports iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices. For more information, see www.maxava.com or www.apple.com/itunes/.

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
