  • MVP Unveils JAMS 5.1

    October 26, 2010 Alex Woodie

MVP Systems Software is now shipping the version 5.1 release of Job Access and Management System (JAMS), a Windows-based job scheduling utility that supports the coordination of jobs running on IBM i, among other platforms.

JAMS is written in .NET and runs in the Windows environments, where the majority of its 500-plus customers run. However, the software also includes agents that allow JAMS to control and coordinate jobs executing on IBM i, Unix, Linux, and OpenVMS servers. rnWith version 5.1, MVP added a number of new features, including better support for running jobs across different time zones. Customers also get more detailed controls over the time aspects of their schedules, such as the capability to run a job every other weekday. Better UNIX scalability and support for new PowerShell cmdlets provides better execution of jobs.

The JAMS client has been enhanced with a new history view that contains more advanced sorting and filtering capabilities. Customers also get more capabilities for reverting to previous versions of a job, a set, a system, or a trigger previously set up in JAMS. Also, the product comes in line with the near universal use of the F5 button to refresh a list.

Earlier this year, JAMS gained support for simple network management protocol (SNMP), which allows IT administrators to monitor for critical events in the job scheduler using the same management console they use to monitor other SNMP events.

On the business front, MVP recently opened a new sales office in New York City that will also contain support personnel. The company also launched a new website recently, including the capability to get technical support via chat. For more info, see the company’s website at www.jamsscheduler.com.
