  • Oracle Launches ‘Best Practice Center’ for SOA-Enabling JDE EnterpriseOne

    November 4, 2008 Alex Woodie

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne users looking to accelerate their plans to develop a service oriented architecture (SOA) should check out a new “best practice center” recently launched to the Web by Oracle. The online portal provides tips on using Oracle’s Fusion middleware for extending EnterpriseOne using SOA and related technologies. Oracle is also hosting a Webcast on the topic today at 9 a.m. PST.

Oracle’s new best practice center provides an array of Webcasts, tutorials, technical articles, and blog postings designed to familiarize EnterpriseOne shops with SOA concepts and the Oracle Fusion products that can help them exceed their wildest SOA dreams. The content is free to access, and Oracle doesn’t even ask for registration.

Oracle helps users get started with a 10-minute pre-recorded Webcast that provides a fairly detailed overview of how to expose EnterpriseOne data and business processes as Web services, and how to extend them with the Fusion Middleware (FMW) stack.

Oracle has already done the grunt work of developing 70 pre-built integration points for EnterpriseOne in the Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) format. These pre-built processes carry such names as “get item price and availability” and “process purchase order receipt,” and are the foundation for many SOA-related processes.

Users can follow-up with more technical tutorials (in PDF format) describing how to use the rest of the FMW stack, such as Oracle’s standalone Business Intelligence (BI) Publisher, Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), BPEL Product Manager, JDeveloper and the Application Development Framework (ADF), identity and content management offerings, and other related products.

Rounding out the offerings are links to older articles describing some of the finer points of EnterpriseOne administration and development (such as “Using Parameterized URLs to Launch a Native EnterpriseOne Application”), and a blog.

Oracle will be discussing these resources today in a Webcast, appropriately titled “JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and Oracle Fusion Middleware.” You can enroll in the Web cast here.

The JD Edwards Best Practice Center is the latest addition to the group of Oracle Fusion Middleware for Applications Best Practice Centers, and can be accessed directly at www.oracle.com/technology/tech/fmw4apps/jde/index.html?msgid=7067562.
