    It’s a well established fact that the majority of fraud reported by companies is not perpetrated by hackers coming in over the Net, but is actually the work of employees and other insiders with access to internal systems. Combating this type of fraud requires a multi-pronged approach, including strong security configurations and powerful tools. The IBM i world just got another fraud-fighting tool last month when CCSS announced the availability of its new database monitoring solution.

  • Zend Updates PHP Server Stack for IBM i

    Zend Technologies has launched a major update to Zend Server for IBM i, its PHP server stack for the IBM i platform. Version 5.6 marks the general availability of the new XML Toolkit, which provides a new way for integrating RPG logic into PHP apps, and a new application deployment mechanism. DBi, the drop-in replacement for MySQL on the platform that was slated for release about this time, is not yet ready.

  • ARCAD Adds New Testing Features to ALM Suite

    ARCAD Software is now shipping version 8.12 of its application lifecycle management (ALM) suite for the IBM i OS. Among the enhancements is the capability of its regression testing product, called Verifier, to test multiple types of user interfaces simultaneously, thereby making it easier for IBM i shops to test Windows, Web, and mobile interfaces with the same effort used to test interactive 5250 screens or batch jobs.

    Logging onto RJS Software Systems products is about to get a whole lot easier and more secure. This month, the Burnsville, Minnesota, company plans to ship a new release of WebDocs–iSeries Edition that’s equipped with the vendor’s new RJS Single Sign-On (SSO) technology. RJS plans to enable several other products with SSO throughout the year.

  • Infor Touts Growth, Makes an Acquisition

    Although it’s not publicly owned, Infor shared some financial results with the public earlier this month. The software giant says revenue from software licenses grew 17 percent for the 12 months that ended in November. Infor also announced the acquisition of certain products from RSVP Business Systems that are designed to bolster the quality control systems of manufacturers.
