  • Oracle Gives J.D. Edwards World Shops Something to Cheer About

    June 21, 2005 Alex Woodie

Eager to prove it’s doing right by its recently acquired user base, Oracle unveiled its first update to the J.D. Edwards product lines at a user conference in Texas last week. In World A7.3 Service Pack 16, users will find enhancements to help with Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance, as well as new self-service features aimed at making the customer experience “more intimate.” You could also say that Oracle was trying to be more intimate with its customers, and more forthcoming about World’s future.

  • Stonesoft Clamps Down on Evolving Security Threats with Firewall

    June 21, 2005 Alex Woodie

It can be tedious and time consuming for administrators to constantly monitor network activity logs to determine if an attack is happening or a worm is having its way with a WAN. With this in mind, Stonesoft last week launched a new release of its StoneGate Security suite that make it easier for administrators to spot sudden changes in activity. Transfer Anywhere is a flexible Java program that converts, compresses, encrypts, and distributes files among OS/400, Windows, Linux, and Macintosh clients. As a database replication tool, Transfer Anywhere can pump records among

    June 21, 2005 Alex Woodie

Finding out exactly who logged onto the file server and when they downloaded a confidential report is a piece of cake with the new audit log that Electronic Storage Corp.‘s (ESC) added to its LaserVault Reports software this month. The new capability allows administrators to run queries against the log to check for specific activities, such as logging onto the LaserVault server or printing a report, and should help companies with their compliance efforts, ESC says.

LaserVault Reports is a Windows-based application that archives and indexes spool files and other reports as they are generated from host systems, which
