OpenLegacy Partners with ‘Nearshore’ IT Services Provider Softtek

OpenLegacy, a provider of legacy modernization solutions for IBM i and mainframe shops and their applications, this month unveiled a partnership with Softtek, a provider of outsourcing services headquartered in Mexico.

The partnership gives OpenLegacy customers access to the development resources of Softtek, a Monterrey-based IT services provider with 30 offices around the world, including United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, China, and India. The company, which trademarked the term “Global Nearshore,” positions itself as a closer provider of outsourced IT services than those based in India.

“Our strategic partnership will leverage Softtek’s digital development and consulting expertise to assist clients in their challenge to leverage their systems of record and build a digital platform with OpenLegacy technology,” Softtek’s Chief Globalization Officer Beni Lopez says in a press release.

OpenLegacy burst onto the IBM i scene in early 2015 with a unique suite of open source technology and a message of legacy enablement through APIs. Its product, OpenLegacy iSuite, essentially models how IBM i applications work, and then uses a wizard to rebuild much of the underlying “plumbing” of legacy applications, thereby enabling customers to access and build on top of legacy apps using standard APIs.

OpenLegacy COO Hans Otharsson says Softtek and OpenLegacy share similar values, including customer-centricity. “Digital transformation is complex, and OpenLegacy simplifies it,” he says in a press release. “With OpenLegacy’s API platform, Softtek can rapidly deliver streamlined integration and mobilization in record time.”

Linoma Adds 2FA from RSA to GoAnywhere MFT Suite

Linoma Software has added support for RSA‘s two-factor authentication (2FA) technology to its GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer (MFT) suite of tools, the company announced recently.

By adding support for RSA’s popular 2FA solutions, SecurID, Linoma assures that customers can add strong authentication capabilities to critical MFT activities. SecurID also helps users move away from passwords as the main authentication mechanism, replacing them with physical key fobs or token apps.

Linoma is an RSA Ready certified partner, and GoAnywhere products ship with the capability to use the RSA products. In addition to using SecurID, GoAnywhere has been adapted to work with RSA’s RADIUS protocol to initiate log-ins over the Web. Alternatively, customers can use the IPv6 method for accessing SecurID authentication, as well as standard LDAP/Active Directory or IBM i user IDs and passwords.

“Security is paramount to our company,” Linoma president and chief architect Bob Luebbe says in a press release. “The extremely high level of access security that RADIUS and RSA SecurID provides our customers made it a natural fit to incorporate into GoAnywhere MFT to counteract evolving security threats.”

Linoma’s GoAnywhere line of MFT software enable customers to safely send and receive files using standard file-sharing protocols, including FTP, FTPS, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, and IMAP. Each of the three GoAnywhere products, including GoAnywhere Services, GoAnywhere Director, and GoAnywhere Proxy, runs on an array of servers, including IBM i, Unix, Windows, Linux, and other OSes.

RVI Partners with Accounting Software Maker

AccuFund, a developer of accounting software for non-profits and municipal governments, recently announced a partnership with Real Vision Software , which makes document and imaging software for IBM i.

The two companies have already integrated the RVI Document Imaging System with the AccuFund Accounting Suite, thereby providing AccuFund customers with enhanced document imaging and storage capabilities.

“AccuFund currently has the ability to store document images internally, but we deal with many large clients who are looking for more advanced indexing and retrieval capabilities,” AccuFund president Peter Stam says in a press release. “We researched the non-profit space for a company offering robust document imaging and storage and found it is RVI’s specialty.”

AccuFund’s Windows-based software was designed to use the Sybase SQL Anywhere database, and can also use Microsoft SQL Server. RVI’s software runs on Windows and IBM i platforms. Both products can also be accessed on the cloud.

As a result of the integration, whenever an AccuFund customer scans or uploads a document to the system, the documents are automatically indexed in RVI, making them easy to retrieve. The company says that documents stored in RVI are directly linked to transactions in AccuFund and can be viewed and reported within AccuFund as easily as those stored in the AccuFund database.
