Antares Finds a Systems Management Star in QSystemMonitor

Antares Management Solutions, an IT outsourcing company specializing in serving insurance companies, has picked CCSS' QSystem Monitor systems management software to oversee its bank of IBM iSeries servers, the English iSeries specialist announced last week.
"The nature of our business dictates a critical dependence on effective systems management," says Doug Powell, an i5 systems engineer for Antares, an ISO-9001 certified company based in Westlake, Ohio. "Our choice of System i had to be complemented by an equally reliable solution provider. CCSS understood our business needs very well."
While Antares offers a range of service level agreements to meet its clients' needs, all of them expect a high degree of performance and availability, Powell says. "No one can avoid challenges on a busy system or network, but we have the tools to identify and meet those challenges very quickly with QSystem Monitor," he says.
Reducing costs is a key element of any IT outsourcer's strategy, and that means automating as many tasks as possible. To that effect, Antares adopted QSystem Monitor version 12 to continually monitor the state of its iSeries and System i servers.
QSystem Monitor 12, which was released just five months ago, can monitor more than 100 aspects of iSeries activity, including CPU usage, memory usage, disk usage, interactive processing usage, logical partitioning (LPAR) activity, I/O activity; the state of i5 jobs and availability; and the size of objects and independent auxiliary storage pools (iASPs).
Bringing it all together is the Online Monitor, a GUI console used by administrators to monitor their iSeries and System i systems. Antares is the fifth customer to buy QSystem Monitor since it was announced in September, CCSS says.
