  • COBOL Toolmaker Acucorp Joins Microsoft’s MAP

    February 6, 2007 Alex Woodie

COBOL modernization tool maker Acucorp has joined Microsoft‘s Midrange Alliance Program, the software vendor announced last week.

Acucorp develops a suite of development tools called Acucorp-GT that’s designed to help organizations with COBOL applications extract the underlying business functionality, make the COBOL applications behave better when integrating with C, Java, and XML code, and migrate the applications to new applications. According to the San Diego, California, company, its version of the COBOL language is the most portable of all COBOL languages, and its “single-source, compile-once” deployment supports 600 different operating systems..

Microsoft’s Midrange Alliance Program (MAP) director, Spyros Sakellariadis, welcomed Acucorp into the program. “Acucorp’s knowledge of modernizing both HP e3000 and OpenVMS COBOL applications on Windows makes them an ideal fit for the MAP,” he says.

Acucorp joined the MAP for the migrations, says Lori Galván, Acucorp’s vice president of market development. “Our decision to join MAP further strengthens our commitment to helping customers leverage the value of their COBOL applications while minimizing the cost and risk of migrating them to Windows,” she says.

Acucorp’s COBOL modernization tools also support the iSeries, which is also the primary concern of Microsoft’s MAP.
