  • System i Developer Announces Fall Conference

    June 26, 2007 Alex Woodie

Buoyed by the success of its first RPG and DB2 Summit, System i Developer (SiD) will hold a second RPG and DB2 Summit October 2 through 4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the group announced last week.

SiD is a group made of up four System i educators, including Susan Gantner, Skip Marchesani, Jon Paris, and Paul Tuohy. The group’s first event, which was held in March in Las Vegas, was a success, says Gantner, a managing partner in SiD.

“Feedback at the March conference indicated strong support for the Summit as a bi-annual event, even among those who can attend only one event per year,” Gantner said. “Attendees told us that they and their co-workers need regular access to education that focuses on the core technologies behind their most important business applications–namely RPG and DB2.”

One company that got a lot out of the March even was Champlain Valley Telecom in Waitsfield, Vermont, which sent three systems analysts to Vegas for the SiD show. “Two of us were slated to attend another conference, but after seeing the summit course offerings and comparing the prices, all three of us were able to go to the Summit for less money,” said Eric Samuelsen, one of the systems analysts who attended the event.

The Fall RPG & DB2 Summit will be held at the Holiday Inn Select near the Minneapolis International Airport. Attendees who register before July 31 will pay a $995 registration fee, $200 less than the normal fee. The group is also holding a preconference “Headstart Workshop” October 1.
