  • ACOM Cleans Up in HTE Accounts

    February 12, 2008 Alex Woodie

    When it comes to selling document management software to governmental entities running SunGard-HTE software, ACOM Solutions is doing a raucous business. Last week, ACOM announced it has added several more SunGard-HTE accounts to its customer list, bringing to total to more than 150.

    As the fourth quarter of 2007 drew to a close, ACOM sold its suite of document management software to six municipal government agencies that use i5/OS-based software from SunGard-HTE to mange their cities.

    The new customers included:

    • Battle Ground, Washington, a suburb of Portland, Oregon, with a population of 16,240;
    • Emporia, Kansas, the seat of Lyons County with about 26,000 people;
    • Johns Creek, Georgia, a recently incorporated city of 62,000 people in northeast Fulton County;
    • Port Orange, Florida, a city of about 60,000 north of Tampa;
    • Sandy Springs, Georgia, a city near Johns Creek with about 85,000 people;
    • and Sugar Land, Texas, a rapidly growing city of 80,000 that is the headquarters for Imperial Sugar (which suffered a deadly explosion at one of its Georgia refineries last week).

    ACOM says all of the agencies chose its EZeDocs/400 forms package, which enables customers to create electronic documents from their SunGard-HTE applications and data, as well as EZPayManager/400, its electronic payment software. Most of the customers chose the Selected Access feature of EZPayManager/400, which adds an additional layer of security and auditing to the basic product, ACOM says. Most of them also selected EZDesigner/400, a Windows-based tool for creating forms in a graphical, drag-and-drop manner.

    James R. Scott, a senior vice president with ACOM, says the company’s familiarity with ACOM-HTE environments has allowed ACOM to refine its approach for these customers, which saves them money.

    “Our long-standing relationship with Sungard-HTE enables communities to migrate to best-practices back-office operations at minimum time and expense,” Scott says. “With taxpayer pressures a constant in government services, users find that with ACOM solutions they can meet public expectations without putting undue strain on their budgets, particularly in the kind of growth areas that most of these communities represent.”
