RJS Software to Sell Security Software from Sophos

RJS Software, the Minnesota developer of document and content management systems for the IBM i operating system (formerly i5/OS), is hooking up with Sophos, the English developer of security software, the vendors announced last week.

As part of the new partnership, RJS will sell Sophos’ collection of security software, which includes antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-spam software, and network access control (NAC) software for desktops, servers, and other network devices. RJS will also sit on the Sophos Partner Advisory Council, a group of channel partners that work with Sophos to market its products in North America.

The Sophos partnership was spearheaded by RJS sales manager Chuck Leininger, who worked at a company that sold Sophos software before joining RJS. Leininger will represent RJS at annual and quarterly meetings. “Sophos has superior ‘industrial strength’ security technology,” he says. RJS will inaugurate its new relationship with Sophos with a seminar and open house at its headquarters in Burnsville, Minnesota, on September 9.

Lately, RJS has been working to expand its business beyond the market for i OS document and content management systems. In 2006, it acquired an iSeries consultancy and reseller to bolster its professional services business. The company is still planning to use that acquisition to segue into the appliance business.
