  • TMW Systems Certifies ALK Technologies’ Truck Routing Software

    September 30, 2008 Alex Woodie

Trucking outfits that rely on i OS and Windows fleet management software from TMW Systems can continue to use ALK Technologies‘ routing software to ensure that trucks take the quickest and most efficient route–and avoid low bridge clearances and expensive toll roads along the way.

Last week, TMW announced it has certified the latest releases of ALK Technologies’ two primary products, PC*MILER and PC*MILER|Tolls, for use with its Windows-based TMWSuite and TruckMate products and its i OS-based TL2000 system.

PC*MILER 22–the 22nd update of the software from the Princeton, New Jersey, software company–provides a substantial map data update of truck restrictions and helps companies and drivers avoid low bridge clearances, load limits, one-way roads, turn restrictions, and other obstacles faced by truckers every day. The company says it made significant improvements across its U.S. and Canadian maps, including an 84 percent increase in truck restricted roadways and a 159 percent increase in the number of truck restrictions and allowances.

Similarly, PC*MILER|Tolls 22 has been enhanced with the latest information concerning truck toll costs, whether by weight or by axle, for the nations’ highways. Companies that use the solution with TMW software have a simpler way to calculate lane analysis, TMW says.

David Wangler, president and CEO of Beachwood, Ohio-based TMW Systems, says ALK’s products are a good fit for TMW customers. “The combined result is a significant reduction in empty miles and increase in revenue per mile, a strong value proposition in this challenging environment with record fuel prices,” he says.

In other news, TMW held its annual TransForum 2008 user conference last week in Orlando, Florida. The company reports attendance at 1,300 people from more than 430 customers and 46 exhibitors across North America and Europe.
