  • TMW Systems Gets New CEO

    May 15, 2006 Alex Woodie

TMW Systems, a developer of OS/400 and Windows dispatching software, last week appointed a new president and chief executive officer. David Wangler will take over control of the Beachwood, Ohio, company from Ken Thompson, who announced his retirement. The change in command at one of the “Big Three” developers of the software that runs our nation’s trucking companies was expected.

Thompson and fellow TMW Systems executive Dave Mook took the reins of the company just last fall when Tom Weisz, the company’s founder and then its CEO and chairman, sold the company to two private equity firms, Wachovia Capital Partners and Peppertree Capital Management. Thompson held the titles of president and CEO, while Mook held the titles of chief operating and technology officers.

Wangler, 44, brings more than two decades of experience in the supply chain and manufacturing software arena to TMW. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of SupplyWorks, a developer of supply chain management software that was acquired by Intuitive Manufacturing Systems in March. Before that, Wangler held positions in executive positions at Baan (eaten by SSA Global), SKYVA International, Wonderware (still owned by Invensys). He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering from the Ohio State University.

Wangler’s appointment was met with approval by Weisz, who remains chairman. “His extensive knowledge of technology-based solutions and business savvy are a perfect fit for enhancing our leadership position in the trucking technology marketplace,” he says.
