Lawson for Equipment ERP Based on M3

Lawson Software last month unveiled a new industry-specific version of its M3 ERP suite called Lawson for Equipment Service Management and Rental. The new suite gives Lawson an entry into a market that has been one of the System i server’s strong suits over the years.
The new Equipment Service Management and Rental application is aimed at being the backbone computer system for equipment manufacturers, equipment dealers, and rental operations. The software offers specific, integrated functionality for business processes specific to this industry, including sales, claims and warranty management, rentals and leasing, field service and repairs, and materials service management.
“Equipment dealers operate so differently from almost any other business,” says Jeff Leigh, vice president of business pocesses and systems at Finning, the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer and a pilot site for Lawson’s new product. “So for Lawson to design a package just for our industry provides a great opportunity to increase profitability and deliver outstanding customer service more efficiently,”
Lawson previously offered M3-branded offerings that offered similar capabilities, including M3 Equipment Service Management and M3 Enterprise Rental Management. The new offering bares a new name, and new functionality, apparently.
Lawson offers several pre-configured versions of M3 for various industries, including food and beverage, apparel, wholesale distribution, and hospitals.
