  • inFORM Commits to Reforestation Through Arbor Day Program

    January 27, 2009 Alex Woodie

The environmental benefits of using electronic documents are well known. Fewer trees cut down for pulp and less waste and pollution in our landfills and our skies. And now, inFORM Decisions has further extended the benefits of electronic documents by joining an Arbor Day Foundation program that will result in 10 trees being planted every time a customer buys IFD’s i OS document or payment management software.

For years, IFD has been a proponent of environmental benefits of electronic document management technology. The Southern California company even maintains a “Green Page” on its Web site (at www.informdecisions.com/green.asp) that describes its Green Policy and lists the personal environmental commitments made by IFD president Dan Forster.

Now, IFD is putting more money where its mouth is by joining the Arbor Day Foundation’s Gift of Tree’s program, which is focused on reforestation and restoration of the natural habitat. “For any sale of our IFD paperless solutions, we are now meeting that commitment through our donations to the Arbor Day Foundation to pay for the planting of trees in burned over forests,” Forster says in a press release.

The program makes good environmental sense. Last year, the Gift of Trees program resulted in 261,000 trees being planted across the country, with another 3.2 million resulting from other Arbor Day Foundation activities. For IFD, the program could yield sales and marketing benefits as it attracts System i customers with an environmental bent to them.

IFD’s Gift of Trees program will continue through 2009. For more information, visit www.informdecisions.com.
