  • MaxAva Taps NSPI for Sales and Support in the U.S.

April 6, 2009 Timothy Prickett Morgan

High availability software provider Maximum Availability is continuing its expansion into the North American Power Systems i space, and last week announced a partnership with Network Services Plus to help it sell and support its solutions in the United States.

Maximum Availability is the Aukland, New Zealand, provider of the *noMAX suite of high availability and disaster recovery products for the i platform, which is used by hundreds of companies in over 40 countries. NSPI, which is based in the Roswell suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, has been around for 21 years and is a high-level partner with IBM, Microsoft, and Cisco Systems. NSPI, among other things, has an existing i platform practice, which includes consulting for JD Edwards suites, application hosting, and business continuity services.

Under the partnership arrangement announced last week between Maximum Availability and NSPI, the latter company will be a key partner for selling, implementing, and supporting the *noMAX products, including both licensed and hosted variants of the product.

“Our partnership with Maximum Availability addresses a critical need for high availability/business continuity solutions in today’s business environment,” explained Tim Roe, director of sales and marketing for NSPI, in a statement announcing the deal. “Because the *noMAX model is flexible and supports SaaS, we will be able to provide customers with much more of a refined HA/BC service, tailored to their needs.” The company is particularly keen on using the *noMAX SaaS service as a backup for customers who use NSPI’s i-based hosting services. And as such, there are no practical geographic limits on the deal.

“We see NSPI as a key partner in the U.S., not just in the Southeast,” said Simon O’Sullivan, senior vice president at Maximum Availability. “This partnership positions NSPI quite uniquely as both a reseller of the stand-alone *noMAX product and our SaaS product. They have an impressive data center in Atlanta and staff that are already fully certified on *noMAX and the System i, so we’re hitting the ground running.”

Three weeks ago, Maximum Availability was tapped by United Computer Group, which sells VAULT400 backup and recovery services to i shops, to be the backbone of a managed HA solution that UCG will sell of customers who need quick recovery times for their i applications.
