  • MochaSoft Delivers 5250 Emulator for BlackBerry

    August 4, 2009 Alex Woodie

MochaSoft, a developer of inexpensive terminal emulation software, recently unveiled a version of its 5250 emulator that runs on RIM‘s BlackBerry Storm, a smart phone with a touch screen display.

Released last month by the Danish software company MochaSoft, TN5250 for BlackBerry allows users to access i OS applications from the comfort of their touchscreen-equipped BlackBerry phones. The software supports all standard 5250 emulation features, including device names. It also supports SSL encryption and features an auto log-in option and customizable colors.

TN5250 for BlackBerry can be used on both the touch screen version of the phone and the older versions that feature a real keyboard. When installed on the touch screen BlackBerry Storm, TN5250 for BlackBerry can optionally be used in landscape mode. Otherwise, customers have the choice of two screen sizes, 24 x 80 or 27 x 132.

The software offers three networking choices, including WiFi, TCP/IP, or BlackBerry Enterprise Server with MDS. Some configuration of the phone will be required if using standard TCP/IP. Using MDS, the Blackberry firewall must be configured to allow data from the phone to the AS/400, MochaSoft says.

TN5250 for BlackBerry requires BlackBerry OS 4.2 or higher. Single user licenses are available for $30 each. For more information, visit www.mochasoft.dk.
