  • Construction App from CGC Gets a Web Portal

    March 23, 2010 Alex Woodie

Computer Guidance Corp. (CGC) last week unveiled a new Web portal for its i/OS-based construction management system (CMS). According to CGC, the portal will provide customers with access to other Web sites and Web-based applications, including Web cams, and make customers more efficient and profitable.

CGC’s flagship application provides mid- to large-size contractors and other companies in the construction industry with an integrated platform for a range of activities, including financial accounting, project management, and bidding. With the addition of the portal application (which CGC refers to simply as the “Portal”), the suite features a total of 28 integrated modules.

The new portal application will help CMS customers in several ways. For example, a contractor could use the portal to view a Webcam installed at a job site to see how things are going. The portal also provides a handy place to park weather reports delivered over the Web, or to receive alerts, e-mails, or texts from other components of the CMS.

Finally, the new portal will be a delivery vehicle for CGC’s dashboard reporting tool, the Portal Out of Box (POB), which was delivered about a year ago. Through the portal, customers will be able to access key performance indicators (KPIs) that tell them how employees or subcontractors are performing, whether the business is within compliance, and other areas of contract management.

“Our new Portal application puts the vast resources of the World Wide Web at the fingertips of contracting executives, financial officers, and project managers,” stated CGC president and CEO, Roger Kirk. “Immediate access to information helps them run their businesses more effectively and, ultimately, more profitably.
