  • HiT Adds Multi-Server Synchronization to Data Replication Suite

    June 22, 2010 Alex Woodie

HiT Software, which was acquired last month by BackOffice Associates, yesterday released DBMoto 7, the latest version of its data replication and synchronization software. With this release, customers will gain the capability to synchronize data across multiple databases, regardless of location.

DBMoto is a Windows-based data replication tool that offers multiple replication modes—refresh, mirroring, and synchronization–to handle different replication tasks. The software does not require programming, and uses a wizard-based process to handle initial set up. Nearly 20 different database management systems are supported by DBMoto, including IBM‘s DB2/400 and DB2 for Linux, Unix, and Windows (LUW); SQL Server; MySQL; Oracle 11i; Sybase‘s ASE and SQL Anywhere; CA‘s Ingres; and a handful of other open source databases.

With version 7, several features were added that the company claims will make the product more useful in enterprise environments, including support for multi-server synchronization; new data verification routines; new administrative and security options; support for the Netezza data warehouse appliance; and support for log-based replication on DB2 LUW.

Large customers with many data centers (or data closets) are expected to get a lot of use out of the new multi-server synchronization that HiT delivered with version 7. The capability to move data among multiple System i, Unix, Windows, or Linux servers should be particularly well received by customers, predicts Giacomo Lorenzin, managing director of the HiT. operation for Back Office Associates.

“DBMoto 7 addresses the data integration needs of large organizations looking for data availability from multiple systems regardless of location,” Lorenzin states in a press release. The new GUI, security features, and support for Netezza will also get customers’ attention, he says.
