  • Cetova Widens JDE Reporting Options

    April 5, 2011 Alex Woodie

JD Edwards shops that use Cetova‘s reporting tools can now access their archived data at the same time they report against their production data. Cetova says the new archived data option, which it unveiled last month, will eliminate the need to rewrite reports or reload archived data into production systems.

Efficient management of the data lifecycle is a big priority in IT departments these days. If a business waits too long to archive its older data, it runs the risk of slowing down its production system, and impacting critical systems.

Occasionally businesses are faced with the need to access archived data from their reporting tools. This is an exception to the norm, but it comes up enough for vendors like Cetova to take the issue up in the R&D department.

One of Cetova’s customers, the engineering and construction firm Willbros Utility T&D, faced a dilemma in accessing archived data. According to Bob Adamski, a senior systems analyst with the Hauppauge, New York-based company, the company faced a choice between rewriting the reports or bringing the archived data back into production, which would slow the performance of its EnterpriseOne ERP system.

Instead, Willbros Utility T&D selected Cetova’s archived data access solution, and was up and running after a two-day installation, Cetova says. “We are really pleased with Cetova’s archiving enhancement,” Adamski says in a press release. “Our end-users have access to all the information they need–archived and production–without major investment or lengthy delays.”

Cetova is a Jersey City, New Jersey-based company that develops corporate performance management (CPM) tools for the JD Edwards (World and EnterpriseOne) and Lawson Software ERP systems. The company’s reporting lineup consists of C-FAR, a multidimensional reporting and analysis tool that provides an “Excel-like” user interface; the C-QRY query and report writer; the C-PLAN budgeting and planning tool; and the C-EXECVIEW dashboard solution.
