  • ASNA Hooks Up with Transoft in European Expansion

    June 28, 2011 Alex Woodie

A newly freed ASNA is looking to the European continent to grow its IBM i modernization business. This month, the company announced that it’s established a partnership with Transoft to represent ASNA in Northern Europe. It also hired a new technical sales and support representative who will be based in Europe.

ASNA is rebuilding parts of its business following the January breakup with BluePhoenix, a mainframe modernization and migration specialist that had acquired ASNA back in 2007.

Part of that rebuilding involves redefining its partnership with Transoft, a subsidiary of the U.K. software company IRIS, which sells IBM i-based ERP, accounting, and event ticketing software that has more than 600 IBM i customers in the U.K.

While Transoft doesn’t focus exclusively on the IBM i platform, it has a lot of experience helping to modernize, migrate, and integrate its customers’ IBM midrange applications. Transoft and ASNA had forged a partnership in 2009, when ASNA was part of BluePhoenix, but it was apparently necessary to establish a new partnership now that ASNA is back under its original ownership.

Transoft’s managing director John Frith says he is pleased to be extending his company’s partnership with ASNA. “We are particularly excited about the recent announcement of ASNA Wings, a product that provides an easy replacement for tired 5250 green screens by a native .NET browser delivered graphical user interface,” he states in a press release. “We very much look forward to helping the System i community modernize their applications to meet pressing business demands.”

ASNA also announced that it’s hired Jonathan Greenstreet to a technical and sales support position. Greenstreet will bolster ASNA’s coverage of the English-speaking areas of Europe, including the U.K., Ireland, Iceland, Netherlands, and Scandinavian countries, ASNA says. Greenstreet will work with ASNA’s European technical director, Tim Jannsen.

ASNA has duel headquarters, in San Antonio, Texas, and Barcelona, Spain. The San Antonio office, which used to head ASNA Inc., is responsible for research and development, sales, and support, while the Barcelona office is the headquarters for European operations. Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
