  • Netential Launches an i Cloud Solution for JDE

    November 29, 2011 Alex Woodie

Netential, a U.K.-based managed service provider (MSP), this month launched Cloud 9, a new IBM i-based cloud offering for running production Oracle JD Edwards World and EnterpriseOne workloads.

Under Cloud 9, Netential and its data center partner, Blue Chip , will host, manage, and service customers’ development, test, or production JDE World and JDE EnterpriseOne ERP applications running in an IBM i environment. The World offering is supported up to version A9, and the pay-as-you-go price starts at £2.18 per hour, or about $3.40 per hour. The EnterpriseOne offering is supported up to version 9, and starts at £0.75 per hour, or $1.17 per hour.

Cloud 9 runs on the new IBM i-based cloud infrastructure as a service (IAAS) offering that U.K.-based Blue Chip introduced earlier this year. Blue Chip, which boasts that it’s “the largest maintainer of IBM mid range systems out side of IBM itself,” launched its IBM i cloud as an expansion of the IBM i work that its done in the areas of MSP, hosting, and managed disaster recovery and business continuity areas.

The fact that many JDE users continue to run on the IBM i platform is a big part of Netential’s decision to expand into cloud hosting, explains Netential managing director Christian Fronteras. “With the availability of Cloud 9 on iCloud we can now offer iSeries deployments of JD Edwards WorldSoftware and EnterpriseOne, reducing the cost of ownership and giving scalability on demand,” he states in a press release.

Netential is also coupling its Cloud 9 offering with two other JDE-related services that it offers, including LifeLine, a technical support offering designed to augment an organization’s existing help desk, and Kinetics, its comprehensive JDE management, support, and management offering.
