  • IBS Finally Goes GA with Version 7 of ERP Suite

    March 13, 2012 Alex Woodie

IBS announced the general availability of IBS Enterprise version 7, the latest version of its distribution-focused ERP system that runs on IBM i and Windows servers. The new version, which has been officially unveiled at least two times over the past two years, brings enhancements in the areas of mobility, cloud computing, and business intelligence.

IBS Enterprise version 7, which the embattled software company first unveiled in October 2010 and then again in October 2011, is now available for new and existing customers, the company announced in late February.

The new Distribution Cloud Solutions runs on a mix of IBM i and Intel-based servers, and will give customers new options for running a variety of the latest version 7 components, including Distribution Intelligence; Distributions Financials; Supply Management; Logistics, Assembly and Services; Demand Management; and Supply Chain Integration.

The new cloud offering also supports the new IBS Mobility offering, which will extend IBS interfaces to run on iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile platforms. IBS is developing the new mobile platform using the SymMob mobile framework product developed by STG subsidiary Symphony Services.

The company boosts its business intelligence offerings with the launch of Advanced Sales and Operations Planning and Real-Time Performance Manager applications. IBS says its FS&OP offering will provide a “single version of the truth” of customers’ data, and help customers meet their financial goals more effectively. The new Real-Time Performance Manager, meanwhile, will provide “closed-loop” performance data to managers.

IBS made its latest IBS Enterprise version 7 GA announcement at the Swedish company’s Global Customer Summit, which was held recently in Melbourne, Australia. Ludo Hertroijs, general manager of IBS APAC region, says the acquisition of IBS by Symphony Technologies six months ago was key to the development of new capabilities.

“In a short period of time, we’ve been able to bring to market some of the industry’s hottest products to market quickly because of Symphony’s deep product and technology portfolio, strong financial position and software heritage,” Hertroijs says in a press release.

On March 3, IBS announced that it’s partnering with the software company Medius to provide workflow solutions to IBS Enterprise customers. The new workflow offering will also be available through IBS’ new cloud offering, says Christian Paulsson, the company’s acting chief executive officer and chief operating officer.

Johan Berg, the former Intentia executive who was hired in January 2011, left the company in June 2011 soon after the acquisition by STG was announced.
