  • SEEBURGER Runs MFT Software on Amazon’s Cloud

    March 27, 2012 Alex Woodie

SEEBURGER last week announced that SEEBURGER File Exchange (SEE FX), its managed file transfer (MFT) software that creates a Web portal for file sharing, is now available to run on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.

As a component of the SEE MFT suite, SEE FX delivers fairly typical MFT capabilities, including encryption, authentication, full auditing and logging, checkpoint restarts, Web browser and Outlook interfaces, and unlimited file sizes. SEE MFT (and thus SEE FX) also supports the movement of IBM i files.

The big difference with SEE FX compared to SEE MFT is that SEE FX creates a secure Web portal residing outside the firewall. This can make it easier for users to share files with outside employees, partners, and customers.

And now that SEE FX is supported on the AWS, getting a secure MFT portal up and running is that much easier. Users no longer need to configure a server and implement the software to start doing MFT. They also benefit from pay-as-you-go pricing and elastic scalability.

Customers can also choose which region around the world to utilize for hosting of their MFT software, SEEBURGER says. If privacy is a major concern, customers can also use the Amazon Virtual Private Cloud to restrict AWS resources to a virtual network.

Customers running enterprise software from SAP on the AWS also get an extra set of capabilities, due to SEEBURGER’s close relationship with its fellow German software company. The close integration eliminates the need of the SAP customer to first download files from SAP’s document management, product lifecycle management, and HR systems before sharing them via SEE FX.
