  • Maxava Goes HTML5 with maxView

    September 11, 2012 Alex Woodie

Maxava yesterday announced that maxView, its Web-based console for monitoring and managing IBM i server and HA environments, has been rewritten in the latest HTML5 language, which the vendor says bolsters the product’s usability.

Maxava develops three versions of maxView. There is maxView Lite, a free GUI console that shows the status of key IBM i server performance metrics, including CPU and ASP utilization, and WRKSYSSTS- and WRKSACTJOB-related information. maxView Monitor builds on this foundation and also displays information about the status of HA replication and failover readiness, but doesn’t allow users to actually manage the HA product. maxView Manager adds this capability to actively manage Maxava HA environments.

The move to HTML5 allowed Maxava to do some new things with the interface, such as the capability to do push notifications, to color-code alert categories in maxView Manager, to set more specific alert thresholds and exclusions, and to set the auto refresh timing interval to user-defined settings.

Maxava says that the new release also features better drill down capabilities for reviewing more detailed information around replication, Maxava configurations, and other system statistics.
