  • Computer Guidance Launches iPad App for Construction Suite

    April 2, 2013 Alex Woodie

Computer Guidance Corp. (CGC), the developer of IBM i-based ERP software for construction companies, last month unveiled a new iPad app that will boost customers’ capability to track work and workers in the field.

The new Mobile eCMS suite delivers an iPad interface for CGC’s popular RPG-based Construction Management System (eCMS), and will give foremen and supervisors a new tool for managing employees and projects while on site. Three main apps are available now with Mobile eCMS, including Remote Payroll, Field Reporting, and Time & Attendance apps. The app is designed to run on iPads, and is available on Apple‘s iTunes App Store.

“The accuracy of labor and project costs is paramount to successful project management,” states CGC president Michael Bihlmeier in a press release. “Mobile eCMS will improve our customers’ management of remote workers and the quality of communication between the field and home office.”

One of the first CGC customers to adopt Mobile eCMS is Herzog Companies, a Missouri-based contractor that provides heavy highway and railroad construction in 48 states, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The company adopted the new iPad app as part of its upgrade to eCMS 4.0, which began in 2012.

Herzog is using 18 components of the eCMS suite, and the use of Mobile eCMS is being counted on to deliver new efficiencies to the company. “We have been working to implement technologies that sustain our growth strategy and business model without interrupting our business operations,” Herzog’s director of risk management and finance Ryan Van Meter states in a press release.
