  • Informatica Embeds PowerCenter into Zettaset’s Hadoop Software

    July 16, 2013 Alex Woodie

Informatica has entered into an OEM agreement with Zettaset to provide its PowerCenter software with Zettaset’s Hadoop cluster management software.

As part of the deal, Informatica’s PowerCenter Big Data Edition will be embedded into Zettaset’s Orchestrator Hadoop cluster management solution, which is designed to accelerate and simplify the Hadoop installation process, and provide on-going management and security capabilities.

Getting data into and out of the Zettaset-managed Hadoop implementations will be easier with PowerCenter Big Data Edition managing the movements. PowerCenter is Informatica’s flagship data integration tool, and it supports a range of data sources, including IBM i and DB2/400.

Informatica says PowerCenter Big Data Edition will enable Zettaset Orchestrator users to ingest practically any type of data into Hadoop with a standardized process, using native APIs, and at high speeds. The data integration tool can traverse firewalls and other network devices, and supports multi-structured and unstructured data, including data from tablets, smartphones, machine devices, sensors point of sale (POS) systems, and Web logs.

Zettaset customers will be able to reuse their data integration mappings thanks to the Informatica’s Vibe environment. That environment doesn’t require manual coding, and uses a “map once, deploy anywhere” approach, Informatica says.

“Just as Orchestrator simplifies the administration of Hadoop, PowerCenter Big Data Edition simplifies the integration of big data into, on and out of Hadoop,” states Brad Kern, senior vice president of worldwide alliances at Informatica. “By embedding Informatica PowerCenter Big Data Edition, Zettaset will be able to reduce risk and improve customer acquisition and retention.”

The next stage of the partnership with Zettaset may include using Informatica’s data quality offerings, including data profiling and cleansing solutions, the company says.
