  • Krengel Rejiggers Mailing Automation Lineup

    March 4, 2014 Alex Woodie

Krengel Technology last month introduced DocuTransfer, the new name for its suite of document and mailing automation software for Windows. Formerly called DocuMailer, the new DocuTransfer suite allows users to pick and choose exactly which options and capabilities they need to support their mailing operations.

Instead of one DocuMailer product, Krengel Tech now offers a family of document management and mailing automation solutions under the DocuTransfer banner. Customers gets started by selecting one of the core DocuTransfer products–Pro or Lite.

Both DocuTransfer Pro and Lite offer core mailing automation features, such as CASS and NCOA address validation, PAVE presorting, various matching and merging functions, and job reporting. If the volumes are relatively light, the DocuTransfer Lite product will suffice.

However, if the volumes are heavy and the workflows complex, then Krengel recommends using its DocuTransfer Pro product. Pro builds on Lite with additional features, such as integration with Objectif Lune‘s PlanetPress products, which brings support for transpromotional marketing, variable data document design, complex finishing options, and dynamic document workflow configuration. Pro also gives the user more data input options (including support for TSV, CSV, XML, PDF, TXT, a database sources). Pro also provides PDF text data extraction capabilities, and supports reading and writing files to and from SQL Server.

Krengel is now selling various add-ons that expand the core capabilities of DocuTransfer Pro and Lite. This includes DocuTransfer eCertify, which adds support for sending USPS certified documents with “proof of mailing” or “signature required” functionality.

DocuTransfer eDocs, meanwhile, provides Lite and Pro customers with the capability to use the US Postal Service’s XML interfaces for “start the clock,” NIXIE “undeliverable as addressed,” and other address verification services that help customers get the lowest postal rates.

Another add-on called DocuTransfer PCL to PDF converts a customer’s PCL print stream into readable PDF file format that can be used in DocuTransfer, while the DocuWare Connector provides a connection between the DocuWare document management software and PlanetPress products. The Payment Gateway Connector, meanwhile, provides users the capability to allow their customers to pay via ACH, credit card, or electronic check when distributing electronic invoices via email.

Finally, there is the DocuTransfer Archive add-on, which is a cloud storage environment. According to Krengel, the Archive is a required component of both DocuTransfer Lite and Pro products, and provides 50 GB of storage.
