  • Linoma Adds Single Sign-On to MFT Offering

    May 20, 2014 Alex Woodie

Linoma Software customers will have an easier time signing onto Linoma’s managed file transfer (MFT) product thanks to a new single sign-on (SSO) feature that leverages open source security protocols. The new release of GoAnywhere Services brings several other features as well.

Linoma enabled SSO by adding support for SAML (Security Assertion Mark-Up Language) in the Web client of GoAnywhere Services version 3.5. SAML enables the secure exchange of authentication information between Web browsers and service providers and applications. It’s backed by OASIS and is an alternative to OpenID.

Support for SAML allows the Web client for GoAnywhere Services to automatically authenticate against other internal applications that also support SAML, as well as external SAML-supported applications, such as Salesforce.com. SAML is also supported in various Oracle applications, as well as Tivoli and Notes/Domino platforms.

Linoma says using the OpenSAML API will help increase the productivity and adoption of GoAnywhere Services while centralizing user access control and adding a uniform security layer. “We felt this feature was the next logical evolution from the LDAP integration offered in version 3.4 of GoAnywhere Services,” said GoAnywhere lead software engineer Steve Luebbe in an announcement.

Version 3.5 also brings enhancements to GoAnywhere Services virtual folder feature. The update improves the product’s capability to create, update, and delete virtual files and folders across a range of Web user and group profiles in GoAnywhere Services. This release also brings support for Portuguese and Bahasa, and adds the capability for customers to display customized disclaimers in every supported language.

GoAnywhere Services is part of Linoma’s MFT product suite, which also includes GoAnywhere Director and GoAnywhere Proxy. All three of the products run on IBM i and other products, and support FTP, FTPS, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, and IMAP protocols. GoAnywhere Services is designed primarily for organizations that need to do a lot of file transferring activities with external customers and business partners over the Web, whereas GoAnywhere Director is designed primary for use by larger organizations with internal MFT needs, and thereby offers some additional capabilities not found in GoAnywhere Services, including support for PGP and AES encryption, file conversion capabilities, and the capability to do direct database connections. GoAnywhere Proxy is a reverse proxy solution designed to provide an additional layer of security. For more information see www.goanywheremft.com.

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
