  • Tango/04 Lunches Alignia to Simplify Corporate Monitoring

    August 19, 2014 Alex Woodie

Tango/04 Computing Group last month unveiled Alignia, a new IT- and business-monitoring solution designed to make it easier for an organization to monitor events that can have an impact, not only on their businesses but their customers and suppliers as well.

Tango/04 has worked extensively in the IBM i world, and supports the IBM i platform (among others) with its flagship VISUAL Message Center product. In recent years the Spanish company has looked to reposition its offerings as the distillation of knowledge, such as with its September 2012 launch of the Operations Knowledge Module for IBM i.

Alignia is a continuation of that theme and, according to the company, is the culmination of 15 years of experience in implementing hundreds of IT- and business-monitoring and management projects.

The software is a layer that sits atop an underlying monitoring tool that’s doing the dirty work of continuously monitoring and responding to millions of logs and queues, such as Visual Message Center and other third-party tools. Alignia software softens the hard edges of these largely IT-focused tools by simplifying deployment and configuration through wizards and delivering information in ways that non-technical business users and service managers can understand.

Alignia has four parts. Alignia for Online Business Services is designed to prevent and identify problems in online transactions. Alignia for Business Applications is designed to control all the technology that supports services and processes, the company says. Alignia for Business Processes helps IT and business “be aware of problems, bottlenecks, and delays,” while Alignia for Business Security helps identify security incidents.

There also an element to Alignia in extending business and service monitoring beyond the four walls of an individual corporation, which is an interesting communal twist on the narrowly self-focused world of corporate IT.

“Alignia is the monitoring solution of the extended company that includes not only the own company but also its customers, suppliers, business partners, and other third-[parties] with whom business should be interrelated and also should be controlled to ensure operations,” Tango/04 CEO Raul Cristian Aguirre says in a press release. “For IT, controlling only [their] own company is no longer enough.”

Tango/04 unveiled Alignia earlier this summer at user conferences held in Europe and South America. The software is already being used at Tango/04 customers, including Zurich Insurance Group.
