  • Four Hundred Monitor, September 19

    September 19, 2018 Jenny Thomas

One can never have too many champions, and the IBM i is no exception. IBM is once again looking for champions and there is no reason someone from our ecosystem isn’t deserving of the prize. If you know an “innovative thought leader in the technical community,” use the link below to nominate that person. One such person, who we cannot nominate because he is an IBM employee, is participating in a webinar today to discuss current state of the IBM i. You can find the link at the top of the calendar section below.

Top Stories From Outside The Jungle

(IBM Champions Program) What does it take to be an IBM champion? Candidates should demonstrate expertise in and extraordinary support and advocacy for IBM technology, communities, and solutions; share advocacy and influence within and outside their organizations or customer engagements; influence and mentor to help others make the most of investments in IBM software, solutions and services. Think you know someone who’s got the right stuff? You have until October 22 to fill out the nomination form.

(The Register) A lawsuit has been filed against IBM by workers who claim they were victims of ageism and laid off because of their age and were not being considered for other positions.

(CIO) Who doesn’t love a good success story? This article takes a look at 10 companies that have faced and embraced digital transformation.

(ZD Net) Many companies are struggling with how to use Twitter to reach new customers and promote their business. So when Twitter changes the rules for how your Tweets would be seen, it may have thrown a wrench into your strategy. But fear not because the Twitter gods have had a change of heart.

(Digital Transformation for the CIO) As much as our world revolves around the “i”, we haven’t cornered the market on all things i-related. The role of the CIO is changing and the future of some businesses may rest in their hands.

Redbooks, White Papers, and Other Resources

(OpenLegacy) A veterinary cooperative partnered extends its AS/400 system to iPad Mini tablets to provide real time access while in the field visiting their patients. Check out this case study to read they did it.

(Proximity) Ensuring track and trace capability is built into your manufacturing operations will give you the ability to practice continuous improvement with accurate product and process data. IQMS’ whitepaper outlines some best technology practices for tracking, tracing and reporting on manufacturing production.

(Syncsort) 2018 has already seen its share of natural disasters. Are you prepared or have you just been lucky? This webinar can help you discover if your IBM i can survive a sudden, unplanned event.

(IBM) This free e-book covers everything you need to know about what blockchain is, how it works, and how you can get started building a blockchain network today.
