IBM i PTF Guide, Volume 22, Number 12
March 23, 2020 Doug Bidwell
It is a quiet in IBM i PTF Land this week, and that is to be expected with the coronavirus outbreak finally – and very regretfully but not unexpectedly – making its way around the global. But we will continue to put out the IBM i PTF Guide like clockwork because keeping mission critical systems up to date and humming along is more important than ever, even if the volume of business for most companies is, at this point with few exceptions, hard to guess.
We are here to help, and if you run into trouble on your systems because your programmers or administrators are out sick, reach out to us and we will see what we can do to help. Our ability to do so will, of course, depend on the amount of work that will pile up during this crisis.
There were not major PTF updates to the four most commonly used and mostly current releases of IBM i this week – including, of course, the withdrawn IBM i 7.1 and its follow-ons IBM i 7.2 and 7.3 and the shiny new IBM i 7.4. We do have some new and updated links in the guide this week, however:
- IMGCLG: CRTIMGCLG Specifying IFS Path in /QNTC Fails
- IMGCLG: Image Catalog and Virtual Media – Maximum Capacities and Limitations
- IMGCLG: Upgrade Using NFS Remote Virtual Image Catalog
Tips: This one is simple. Six feet apart, or you or someone you love could be six feet under. Decisions, decisions, decisions!
The Guide at a glance: There are new defectives this week (03/21/20). Here is the defective PTF rundown, which is the last defective for each release:
Defect Defective APAR Fixing Date PTF PTF -------- -------- ------- ------- 7.4 12/09/19 SI70924 SE72609 SI71719 (available!)
Note that PTF SI71719 is a distribution requisite of the latest Technology Refresh (TR) PTF. If you have applied the latest TR PTF to your system, you should apply the fixing PTF SI71719 for i 7.4.
7.3 12/09/19 SI70923 SE72609 SI71718 (available!)
Note that PTF SI71718 is a distribution requisite of the latest Technology Refresh (TR) PTF. If you have applied the latest TR PTF to your system, you should apply the fixing PTF SI71718 for i 7.3.
7.2 07/29/19 SI69654 SE71792 SI70596 (5733SC1, OpenSSH, available!) 7.1 07/29/19 SI69653 SE71807 SI70603 (5733SC1, OpenSSH, available!)
