  • T.L. Ashford Ships New Forms Overlay

    January 24, 2012 Alex Woodie

T.L. Ashford & Associates last week unveiled a new overlay utility for Barcode400, its IBM i forms and barcode labeling software. The new utility is much easier to use and will make Barcode400 users more productive, the company says.

Barcode400 is an electronic forms and labeling package that supports the generation of all types of barcodes and radio frequency identification (RFID)-encoded tags, including compliance labels. The software runs natively on the IBM i server and integrates with existing RPG, COBOL, and CL applications without any programming, the company says. The software outputs labels in Printer Control Language (PCL) and AFP formats.

The new graphical overlay utility should improve the forms creation process, the company says. The process with the new software begins by importing a copy of the document that is to be replicated in Barcode400, such as an invoice or a bill of lading, which can be in any format, including PDF, .DOC, JPG, and others.

TL Ashford’s new graphical overlay utility makes it easier to develop and modify electronic forms on the IBM i server.

After the old form is loaded, all the user has to do is add the IBM i variable data into specific locations on the form using the new overlay utility. In addition to the variable data, the new utility supports the addition of logos and other graphics.

T.L. Ashford, which is based in Crescent Springs, Kentucky, is having a sale on the new overlay utility. Companies can get the new software for just $795 through the end of the month. Starting February 1, the price jumps back up to the regular price of $1,495.

Pricing for Barcode400 itself starts at $995 for a connection of one or two label printers. For more information, see the vendor’s website at www.tlashford.com.
