  • Applied Logic Updates Data Access Tool

    May 8, 2007 Alex Woodie

Applied Logic yesterday unveiled File Edit Utility (FEU) version 15, a new release of the Keizer, Oregon, company’s programmer utility for accessing and modifying i5/OS data.

Modeled after IBM‘s DFU, Applied Logic’s FEU utility offers programmers a slew of functionality, including basic file editing function, the capability to make changes to files en masse based on specified criteria, the capability to edit and reformat spool files, generate DDS, distribute files via FTP, output files in PC formats, and many other capabilities. Obviously such a powerful tool needs security safeguards, and FEU has them in the form of role-based access, an audit log of activity, and an undo function.

With version 15, Applied Logic has added support for the encryption and decryption of data , the capability to edit stream files in the IFS, new audit log management and maintenance options, the capability to reclaim deleted record space in multiple files, custom file view enhancements, and various scanning enhancements, in addition to PTFs and updates.

The software is available now. Licenses start at $995 for a regular license or $1,495 for an LPAR license. For more information or free trial downloads, see www.alcsoftware.com.
