  • BOSaNOVA Secure Version 8 Gets Windows 7 Compatibility

    May 18, 2010 Dan Burger

When 10ZiG obtained the rights to BOSaNOVA Secure and three other products sold under the BOSaNOVA name, it had an obligation to service existing customers, keep investing in the products, and stay current with the latest versions of the IBM i operating system. BOSaNOVA Secure version 8 is the follow through of that promise.

BOSaNOVA, and its worldwide customer base that relies on its iSeries connectivity products, thin clients and network appliances, was acquired by 10ZiG in late 2009. Since then, BOSaNOVA customers have relied on 10ZiG for product distribution and support as well as research and development of future products.

BOSaNOVA Secure was originally designed as an encrypted TN5250 emulation solution for the desktop. It provides SSL and SSO (single sign-on) with Kerberos. The release of BOSaNOVA Secure version 8 brings compatibility with Windows 7 and 64-bit installation. On the IBM i side, it supports all versions of the operating system greater than V3R2, but to deliver SSL and SSO functionality it requires V5R2 or greater. In this latest release, it is fully compatible with the latest IBM i operating system, which is i 7.1.

Rather than switching the BOSaNOVA name to the 10ZiG brand, Martin Pladgeman, president of 10ZiG, says it’s important to maintain the BOSaNOVA name brand because customers are accustomed to it and look for it when seeking support or purchasing new products. Pladgeman is president of BOSaNOVA as well as 10ZiG. He says this release of BOSaNOVA Secure demonstrates a committed investment in time and resources and he anticipates additional developments in the product line this year.

BOSaNOVA Secure 8 is available immediately. The upgrade is free for customers currently under maintenance.
